It is both a “how to” guide and a “resource” tool in which we have assembled a range of ideas for making chat moderation easier and more effective.

eChatBoX is intended to provide chat moderators with

• copy and paste solutions that can be quickly used during text chats
• hints, puzzles, games and ways to draw even the reluctant participants in
• software evaluation (from chatroom features to VOIP services)

in the design of this compendium of eChatBoX , we have mainly had in mind online English language learners. Although the activities we propose will are presently geared to students at the B1 - B2 (Common European Framework) levels, we have included many general sections about facilitating techniques, integrating the software available, discussion boards and wikis for us to share our first-hand experiences.
